Missed me? I have been away, taking a much-needed rest from the Horrid. But I am back, much cheered by the slow but ineluctable descent into oblivion of the Tories and with an ask for help with a new book project.

Back in the saddle, eh? A little ironic to be writing that the same week that i am contemplating getting back on to a push bike for the first time in 35 years. At least 35 years…

Fingers crossed, please, and if you are the praying kind, you know what to do.

Pain in the neck

Writing, though; that’s trickier. I fell off, earlier this year, for two reasons. First, after having committed to one of the longest, most time-consuming projects ever; a report that, no matter how many times i attacked it, seemed never to lie down, and die. What i had anticipated as six weeks of intense work ended up occupying almost every working hour for four months. Ouch!

It hurts. I mean, it really hurts — feel free to add advice or lecture in the comments as you will — but when I work on larger projects like this, I pay for it, both during and after, with a non-stop burning sensation. Yes, folks. writing to…
