Some words for Trans Day of Remembrance

Erased.

That’s what they say we do.

We render women ex,

by disrespecting sex

We gender them.

As though so few could ever oust a body thousandfold our number.

We add, do not subtract;

Replace, in any way.

Remember that, as they dismember womanhood

Reduce each she to no more than the sum of parts.

* * *

Erase

Is what they do to us.

Unsexing.

Disgendering

Dead-naming in life and death alike.

For let it never be that we, dysphoric we

Trans women, men, non-binary

Should grow to celebrate,

Reconsecrate our bodies.

* * *

Erased.

You lonely sad translating souls,

Who could no longer daily face disdain, disgust
