Sex and chromosomes
It’s been a difficult week, month, year, decade… Take your pick! So, for the time being, i suspect the best i will be able to do is to offer up the odd miscellany. Still, as Oliver didn’t quite put it: more miscellany is better than none at all… and this week, two news items caught my eye.
Now read on…
Warning to wankers
First up is a nifty piece of legislation from Democratic State Senator Bradford Blackmon of Mississippi. Bradford is trolling Republicans possessed of an inordinate addiction to controlling women’s sexuality by bringing forward a new and oddly retro bill: the Contraception Begins at Erection Act.
As the Independent explains, “the bill would make it illegal for a man to masturbate or engage in any other sexual acts which would involve discharging “genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.”
Cue much gnashing of Republican teeth.
I know this is intended to poke the modern-day backward-looking tendency. Yet, maybe Bradford is on to something.
Not just an answer to attacks on women now; but also, a road that is rooted in traditional Christian values which, surely, cannot be bad.
