Who cares about the Rights of Women…

…when privileged is the thing to be?

Gender crits have been arguing lately that rights are neither universal nor inalienable, but contingent on people behaving themselves. This may play well with a reactionary and populist press, and is music to the ears of a government that wants to rip up the Human Rights Act. In the end, though, this is about entrenched privilege for a small segment of already doing well-enough middle-class women. No more, no less.

No recognition

Trans women, according to one gender critical giving evidence to parliament recently, should not be allowed legal gender recognition if they have committed a crime against another woman.

OK: I’m sure they didn’t put it quite like that. After all the juxtaposition of “trans” with “other” in the context of “women” is pretty much heresy in gender crit circles. Or maybe “himesy”, since I’m pretty sure they also reckon no true woman would ever utter — Goddess be praised! — such blasphemous comment.

And yanno, for a moment, I thought: what a brilliant idea! But perhaps they need to take it to its logical conclusion. After all, back in 2020 we discovered, courtesy of the Times, Daily Mail, and the usual suspects how, over a 9 year period there had been
